stalking sunsets.

Sunsets are magical!
Well at least I think so!
The way the light dances across the earth- casting dramatic shadows.
I tried to capture sunbeams.
I wish sunsets would last just a little bit longer and escape the day a little bit slower. . .
I stalked the sunset and came across some serene moments.
How many serene scenes does the sunset see?
I have two favorite times of the day- Morning and Evening!
I love to watch the sun rise and then to anxiously await its setting.
It seems everything is calm and peaceful at these times of day- maybe it is just me. . .
It is like I can feel perfectness of it all-

broken glass.

"Say- if you had wings what color would they be?" -Logan Jones
There is beauty in broken glass.
Sure it shatters, can cut and cause pain. . .
But on the other had it is beautiful- the way light dances in the spiderwebbed cracks, the reflection of the sky above, it is even beautiful to get up close and see the crystalized make-up of the sand.
Lately things have been crazy for me.
Hard.
Confusing.
Frustration.
I have felt almost disconnected from the world. . . on an entire different level than those around me.
But it's okay-
It is moments where I feel like this that I figure myself out.
Moments where I can grow and understand what I really want in my life.
Sometimes my life is like broken glass, it hurts-
But in a sense this "hurt" only allows me to feel more joy.

escape.

Yesterday I rode on a dirt road that I didn't know existed.
I ate lunch on a towel and tried new food.
I learned how to say "barbwire" instead of "bobwire".
Yesterday I climbed up a brick wall, fell in love with the weather, and burnt a memory into my mind.
I climbed a fence, got lost in a corn field, and found beauty in rusting old trucks.
I felt the sting of my own hair whipping me in the face as the wind tossed it.
Yesterday I escaped the heat of  the real world and enjoyed a few hours with a best friend.
I captured moments, held a hand, sat on a tree, and released the flying thoughts of my mind.
It was perfect. Simple marvelous in every way.

chasing rainbows.

Today I worked.
I thought about blueberries, how far they have been and what they have seen.
I thought about the people who picked them.
. . . atleast I pictured people picking them.
I thought I didn't like blueberries. . . but I had never really tried them.
They are pretty good.

On my way home from work it started to rain.
I think they should make car fresheners or perfume that smells like rain.
I like it.
A rainbow appeared in the sky.
Two of them actually.
My sister and I chased them.
I love to look for rainbows.

moments.

I've started to learn to love the moment we are in.
I've started to learn to appreciate all that I have, all that I have been given.
Even the times that are hard.
I have had a rough couple of days, for one reason or another.
This may sound crazy, but I'm thankful for my hard, rough, crazy, sad times in life.
I love the great times even more.

There is beauty all around us.
I found a weed today growing in the road.
A plant vs. a road.
If I was a betting person I would put money on the road.
However this weed can be stubborn and ruthless.
It fights and pushes through even the hardest circumstances.
The weed fights and pushes for what it wants in life. . .
to succeed.

Tonight I worked a few things out that were weighing on my mind.
It was easy or pleasant, but worth it.
I feel better.  I feel free.
Like this weed I pushed through.
I am fight for what I want in life.
I am pushing for my dreams.

a penny.

I went to bed mad last night, and despite a nights sleep I woke up mad.
Some people call it "waking up on the wrong side of the bed"- however, I slept on the couch last night.
Sleeping I think intensified my anger, frustration, and meanness.
Why you may ask. . . well I honestly don't have an answer.

I thought as the day went on things would get better. I was wrong.
The routine of daily chores and the urge to wash my car helped. . . and then it rained.
I love rain. Usually. Not today, not on sparkling clean car.
O well.  I had to work. I didn't want to.
Driving to work I had decided that sometimes it feels good to be mad.
I think I was just trying to clarify my actions.

At work everyone was kind of having a rough day.
Maybe it was in the air. Maybe it was just "One of THOSE days".
Doubt it.  I bet my actions carried over. Sorry.
It was hot, humid, and slow.
Saturdays are either really busy, or really slow. I can't decide which I like better.

I rotated out on my shift.
The guard in front of me looked over to me and said, "Hey look a lucky penny. Pick it up maybe your day will turn around?"
I picked it up, put it in my pocket.
I don't believe much in the luck of a penny.
I believe that people make their own luck.

Surprisingly though my day got better.
Maybe it is because I decided not to care.
I swam from one rotation to the other.
Water always seems to make me happy.
I laughed.
I felt carefree.
Did the penny really work?

I was scheduled to guard the pool rental tonight.
I didn't want to.
It was a family reunion. They are hard. There are always lots of people.
We closed public swim to clean.
I looked down and found another lucky penny.
I picked it up, put it in my pocket.
Cleaned.

The party came.
It started raining again. I do enjoy the rain.
The group was calmer than usual.
I was thankful.
I think the pennies worked again.
I'm smiling. I feel better.

Thanks Pennies.

sanctuary.

I love the water.
It is my sanctuary.
I feel secure and safe when I'm fully enclosed in it's grasp.
Some times I stay under water so long I gag on the stale air that I have held inside my body.
I wish I could breath underwater.
Someday I will go scuba diving.

I especially like being in the water alone.
That can be very dangerous, I know, but I love it.
I like being the only one to make ripples and waves.
When I'm alone I feel perfect.

front porch sittin'

okay- so I believe that everyone should have "a place".
Somewhere to go and be secluded from the world.
To think. figure things out. take-in all the storms around them. enjoy simple marvels.

My place is the front porch at my home.
I go there to escape. . . It is my escape.
I could sit there for hours tossing over the things on my mind. tarring everything apart and trying to glue it all back together so that it will fit just right.
I get lost sitting on my front porch.

Back to life.

reflections.

stop. breath. listen.
Can you hear yourself think?
Sometimes my thoughts get so loud it is hard to understand what they are saying.

I am starting a new chapter in my life, and I am scared, nervous, anxious and excited!
I have been thinking a lot about how my life has been and imagining what it will become.
This next year my life could do a total 360* and I just hope I am ready.
I heard once that "change is the only constant" I believe that.

I have always been the one who is a bit reserved. nerdy. and a bit of a goody-two-shoes.
Where I am going no one will know this, I could change and be an entirely different person and no one would ever know. . . no one but me.

Who we are now is who we are going to be tomorrow, next year, in all the eternities- no pressure right?
